Our Team

BtC research center aims to initiate and expand clinical laboratory research, validation and verification of newer technologies and biomarkers, medical writings, research data management and training programs. We also provide expertise in clinical laboratory set up and quality assurance activities.

Dr. Vivek Pant

Founder Member

Affiliation - Samyak Diagnostic Pvt Ltd, Kathmandu, Nepal

Dr. Vivek Pant completed his MD in clinical chemistry from Tribhuvan University (Institute of Medicine) in 2018. He currently serves as a consultant and research director at the Department of clinical chemistry in Samyak Diagnostic which is the first accredited clinical laboratory in Nepal. His areas of interest include biomarker discovery and translational research (molecular diagnostics and clinical chemistry), outcome research of established/ novel biomarkers, metabolic and endocrine disorders, and laboratory management.

Dr. Pant has authored more than 45 scientific articles and over a dozen presentations at various national and international conferences of clinical chemistry and Laboratory Medicine. He serves as a task force young scientist and is a corresponding member of the task force on outcome studies in laboratory medicine at the International Federation of clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine (IFCC).

Dr. Santosh Pradhan

Dr. Santosh Pradhan is Clinical Biochemist, working as consultant biochemist and Department Head, Department of Clinical Biochemistry at Nepal’s first ISO 15189 accredited laboratory, Samyak Diagnostic and as a Lecturer at People’s Dental College and Hospital. He has completed his medical school and post graduation in Clinical Chemistry from Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Nepal. He is a certified internal auditor of ISO 15189. He is a fellow of American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC). He has special interest in laboratory quality management, Newborn Screening and clinical research.

Dr. Keyoor Gautam

Dr. Keyoor Gautam is a consultant Oncopathologist and chairman at Samyak Diagnostic Pvt Ltd Nepal. He established the first ISO 15189 accreditated pathology laboratory in Nepal. He has strong research interest in the laboratory management. He has created national awareness on the importance of accreditation in Laboratory Medicine (ISO 15189). He is an author a book titled “Pathology Margadarshan”.

Dr. Santosh Baniya

Affiliation - Western Regional Hospital, Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences, Pokhara

Dr Santosh Baniya is a general practitioner and emergency physician at the Western Regional Hospital, Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences, Pokhara. He completed his MDGP and EM training from the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, IOM, Kathmandu from where he completed his medical school as well. He holds diploma degree in Mountain Medicine and Global Health. Currently, Dr. Baniya is serving as secretary of Mountain Medicine Society of Nepal and vice president of International Society for Mountain Medicine. Dr. Baniya has research interest in high altitude and mountain medicine.

Dr. Bishwanath Acharya

Affiliation - Anandaban Leprosy hospital, Kathmandu, Nepal

Dr. Biswanath Acharya completed his Ph.D from the Thammasat University, Chulabhorn International College of Medicine, Thailand in 2021. His dissertation title was “Anti-metastatic and autophagic activity of Atractylodin and β-eudesmol in Cholangiocarcinoma cells”. Currently he works as a research scientist at the mycobacterial research laboratory-Anandaban hospital, run by the Leprosy Mission Nepal.His work and research areas are the molecular pathogenesis of cancer and infectious diseases, and neglected tropical diseases.

Dr. Sashi Kandel

Affiliation - Ministry of Health and Population, Kathmandu, Nepal

Dr. Sashi Kandel is a senior medical officer at epidemiology and disease control division (EDCD), Ministry of health and population under the government of Nepal. After MBBS, he has completed Masters in Epidemiology from the Prince of Songkhla University, Thailand. His research interest is in policy planning, organizing, coordinating, and implementing primary health care services.
